About Mitzvah Labs

We think kids learn traditions best with their hands.

Mitzvah Labs runs hands-on Jewish holiday workshops. Kids don’t just hear how olive oil was made for the Temple menorah or what makes matzah special. They make it themselves.

Our story

Who we are

Mitzvah Labs was started by Rabbi Yudi Horowitz. He is the co-founder of Chabad of Carrollton Lewisville and a professional puppeteer, and he has been finding creative ways to teach Jewish life for over 20 years.

Mitzvah Labs follows that same hands-on style. Rabbi Yudi brings the workshops to schools, shuls, JCCs and homes across the DFW metroplex, so kids can press the oil, bake the matzah and make the shofar themselves.

What we believe

How we run every workshop

Hands first

In the hands-on workshops, every child gets a real turn at the press, the dough or the horn. We plan the group around that.

Rooted in tradition

Each workshop is built around the actual mitzvah and the sources behind it, explained at kid level.

Science meets story

Centrifuges, ovens and timers make the "why" visible. Curious kids get real answers.

Room for everyone

No background needed. Workshops work for mixed ages, mixed backgrounds and the grown-ups too.

Let’s plan something together.
