The workshops

Four holidays, four programs.

Three hands-on workshops and a puppet show, each built around a Jewish holiday. We bring everything and set up wherever your group meets. This season’s pick is the Olive Press.

The Olive Press

The Chanukah miracle happened with olive oil: one small jar, enough for one day, burned for eight. In this workshop, kids make olive oil themselves.

  1. Crush fresh olives by hand
  2. Load the press and turn it together
  3. Spin the olive juice in a centrifuge to separate the oil
  4. Light the menorah with the oil they made

What we do

The holidays, made by hand.

Each Mitzvah Labs workshop takes holiday traditions and turns them into a real, working process kids can touch, build and take part in. It’s part science lab, part story, and all celebration.

Explore

Real materials, real tools: olives, wheat, ram’s horns. Kids discover where each tradition actually comes from.

Create

In the workshops, every child gets a turn at the press, the rolling pin or the sandpaper.

Celebrate

At the end, the group uses what they made. They light the menorah with their own oil, or eat the matzah they just baked.
